SCHEDULE for Fall Work Weekend, November 8-9, 2025
- You may drive your car to the unit to unload and then park back in the parking lot BEFORE 10 AM or wait until end of work day.
- Upon arrival, please check in at the lodge to turn in health cards and sign up for a weekend kaper/chore.
- We will meet at 10 AM in the Lodge for introductions and safety briefing.
- Saturday Lunch will be served at 12 noon on Saturday
- Afternoon we will plan to work 1 PM to 5 PM
- We will have indoor and outdoor jobs, but everyone should come prepared to work outside.
- Sunday breakfast will be at 8:30 AM
- Morning we will work from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
- Sunday lunch will be served at 12:30 PM
- Projects in the afternoon and unit/camp kapers will be finished by 3 PM with all tools and equipment returned to the shop.
- Meet in the Rotunda at 3 PM for the wrap up session
GIRL SCOUT POLICIES:
- These will be in effect, including NO ALCOHOL, DRUGS OR WEAPONS ON CAMP PROPERTY.
- Smoking will be permitted only in a designated area.
- No pets are allowed.
HEALTH HISTORY:
A health history card is required for each participant. This will be kept in a sealed envelope and used only if needed for use in an emergency FIRST AID: A first-aider will be on site at all times. We encourage you to bring along your own first aid kit to deal with minor problems (band-aids, aspirin etc.) Emergency transportation will be the individuals/family’s responsibility.
COST:
$25 per participant for the weekend to be paid at time of registration.
IN THE UNITS:
- You will be sharing a unit with other families and individuals- either an indoor building or outside unit. Please indicate under "Group Name" if you have friends you want to be housed with.
- All participants will share in doing camp chores/kapers (table setting, dishwashing, and bathroom cleaning) and unit chores--this includes cleaning the cook shelter, fire circle and latrine. Sunday cleanup is a particular time of need in this area.
- Each unit has a latrine. Showers will be provided in the main camp area.
- Your help in keeping the site clean and litter-free is greatly appreciated.
- At no time may liquid fuel be added to a burning fire.
EQUIPMENT:
- Each family must bring their own sleeping gear, towels, etc. All cabins have bunks and mattresses.
- All personal possessions, including but not limited to sports equipment, musical instruments and vehicles, are the responsibility of the owner and not Girl Scouts of Western Washington.
- Plan to bring rain gear, boots, work gloves, hat and clothes that can be layered.
- Remember to bring flashlights and there is no electricity in the outdoor cabins. If sleeping outdoors, bring warm sleeping bags!
- If you have tools you would like to use for trail work or special projects (i.e.- pruners, loppers, electric chainsaw, nail gun, chainsaw, your favorite rake, etc.), please label them and ensure that you have also come equipped with the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). ANY & ALL power tool use needs to be approved by the site manager before use by volunteers.
WATERFRONT:
The waterfront will be closed.
LEAVING CAMP:
If you need to leave camp, please sign out and back in at the Lodge. This will help us to know where to find you if you are needed in an emergency.
SECURITY:
Please do not leave valuables lying around. If you see someone wandering around the camp who is not a participant in the Work Party Weekend, we ask that you notify the Site Manager.
INSURANCE:
All participants are covered by the secondary basic accident insurance only.
